The bluest water and the softest sand – that is what you can expect to find in the Cook Islands, a tropical paradise in the Pacific just four hours away from New Zealand. And within this serenity, there is a seriously inspiring project underway.
Together with our partner Te Aponga Uira (TAU), the national electricity utility powering Rarotonga, the Agilyx Team has been hard at work on a project which will fundamentally improve the lives of the citizens of this iconic island for the future. TAU is working on a transformational project to achieve and successfully maintain the Government of the Cook Islands’ goal of 100% renewable energy over a 15-year horizon. To do so, TAU is working to accomplish exceptionally high penetration from Solar PV & Wind generation – a dramatic shift from their previous reliance on legacy fossil fuels which powered the energy generation for this island nation.
The ambition and transformation complexity of TAU as an organisation meant that Unit4 Business World was an ideal solution for this forward-thinking organisation. As a customer-centric organisation, TAU required an easy-to-use, highly scalable and functionally-rich platform which allowed almost all customer and back office features to be combined into a single solution. For Agilyx, providing software that delivers an integrated solution with a straightforward interface for all employees is our business.
Our partnership with the TAU team is undoubtedly sustainable, allowing the company to do what they do best – focus on an inspiring project transitioning to solar panels to power Rarotonga sustainably. With the abandonment of fossil fuels to embrace 100% renewable energy, TAU not only has helped to preserve the environmental beauty of Rarotonga by reducing greenhouse emissions but has also reduced the island’s dependence on imported diesels, making them more autonomous.
Our team has been working with TAU since 2017. The project has already hit its milestones, with the successful commissioning of their new Payroll platform with the planned full range of the platform functionality (GL, AP, AR, Sales to Cash, Procure to Pay, Utility Billing and Financial Information Centre) scheduled to go live in May 2018.
